This mid-term project called "Sound & Vision" was supervised by Stefan Terlinden. The task was to create a undefined form of a video where sound and vision were connected in a special way.
The Video „Shadows“ is inspired by the fashion photographer duo René & Radka from cologne and prague. For the american Composer Johnny Jewel they have done a couple of videos. All of them show different scenes of woman in slow motion cutted with long fades, so that the video is fitting to the slow music of Johnny Jewel. Basically all the videos got really short an abstract storys, for example one is showing a woman in a hotel room, the other one is showing a woman waking up in the morning. The photographers were always creating an setting and then doing a couple of differnt shots inside this setting. All the videos feel like filmed fashion shootings.
This video is based on the work of René and Radka, but i still changed a lot. While the original videos are more about the fashion and the aesthetics, this one is not about fashion but more about emotion. I am trying to give a view into the  trouble of a young women, who is in a state between melancholia, fear and rage. When she is looking into the camera she is one half asking for help and the other is not carrying about us, who are watching her, at all. To create an believable atmosphere the whole video is either losing a certain sort of "homemade-style" neither showing images of a perfect body, but more of a real person (without ignoring aesthetics).  As there is only a loose story line, it is opened up for viewers interpretation.
The shots are filmed with the Lumix GH5 in 180 pictures per second and the lighting is done with a single spotlight. The whole video is cutted to music  that i have also produced by myself for this project.
