During the Image & Motion seminar supervised by Prof. Nina Juric, it was one of the students task to create trailers for the 2017 edition of NODE Festival. The topic of 2017's event was "hope".
The result after 1 1/2 week of work (from concept to final cut) is a surreal and experimental video, that was mainly inspired by third episode of third season of twin peaks by david lynch. In one scene in this episode, Lynch is working with many jumpcuts and a minimalistic use of light to create a nightmarish situation. In this work  these stylistic devices were recreated and used to tell a short story.
The final outcome shows two "people" interacting in front of a bus stop. One is a "designer" ( symbolically for all festival visitors), the other one is a ghost creature that moves in a bizarre way. This creature gives over a candle to the designer. Because the designer is at loss about what he has to do with that candle, the ghost is giving him simple instructions: He shall turn on the light (of Node festival) at twentysix-six (26th of june, when the festival starts).

Sound, video and concept by Mirco Böckelmann.
